Considerations about the cost and estimated value of Untamed card packs
Hi Hivers and Splinterlands players, In the last days my card collection has lost some value but the prices of Splinterlands cards are still very high compared to 2 months ago. When the prices of cards on the market are on average high it might be worthwhile to buy packs of cards. That's why I occasionally check the prices of Untamed card packs and their estimated value. My buying strategy is as follows: When the estimated value of an Untamed card pack is at least $0.30 higher than the purchase price, I buy card packs. In the picture on the cover you can see the calculation of the current prices of the Untamed card packs according to the different purchase method. In fact, Untamed card packs can be purchased mainly with:
- Credits (1000 credits = 1$) on the Splinterlands website
- the token DEC on the Splinterlands website
- SWAP.HIVE tokens on Hive Engine/LeoDEX.
If you buy with credits, the cost is 2000 Credits which equals $2.
When buying with DEC tokens the cost of buying depends on the value of the DEC tokens. Based on the current values of HIVE and DEC at the time of writing this post, buying a pack of cards with DEC tokens is equivalent to spending 3.30 HIVE = $1.91.
On HiveEngine there are 3 packs of Untamed cards on sale for 2.99 SWAP.HIVE.
2.99 HIVE equals $1.73.
The lowest cost is obtained if you buy 500 packs of Untamed cards in bulk from the Splinterland website but you must have 1 million DEC tokens available.
The estimated value of a pack of Untamed cards at the time of writing this post is:
- 1.12$ in the situation where you have no potions
- 1.45$ in the situation where Alchemical potions are used
- 1.62$ when using Legendary potions
- 2.05$ in the situation where both Alchemy and Legendary potions are used

Never open a pack of untamed cards if you do not have enough alchemical and legendary potions, because the estimated value is always lower than the purchase price.
By the way, the potions cost as you can see in the following image:
I found it profitable to buy the 3 packs of Untamed cards on HiveEngine because the difference between the estimated value and the purchase price is $0.31.
After the purchase I immediately transferred the Untamed packs from Hive Engine to Splinterlands.
Note: The estimated value is always a more accurate value when opening more than 500 packs. In my case, luck will play a major role. Let's see what I found in the three packs of cards. As you can see from the following image, I chose the multiple opening.

As stated on the Peakmonsters website the total value of the cards is $4.04 using market prices. I spent $5.19 on the purchase. Even though I lost about $1.15 in value I still consider my purchase choice correct and will continue to apply this purchase strategy in the future. In fact if I look at the total number of packs of Untamed cards I have bought so far following my buying strategy I am in large profit.

Quando i prezzi delle carte sul mercato sono mediamente alti può essere conveniente acquistare dei pacchi di carte. Per questo motivo ogni tanto controllo i prezzi dei pacchi di carte Untamed e il loro valore stimato. La mia strategia di acquisto è la seguente: quando il valore stimato di un paccho di carte Untamed è superiore di almeno 0.30$ rispetto al costo di acquisto compro i pacchi di carte.
Nell'immagine in copertina c'è il calcolo dei prezzi attuali dei pacchi di carte Untamed in base al metodo di acquisto. Infatti i pacchi di carte Untamed possono essere acquistati principalmente con:
- i Crediti (1000 crediti = 1$) sul sito di Splinterlands
- i token DEC sul sito di Splinterlands
- i token SWAP.HIVE su Hive Engine/LeoDEX
Acquistando con i crediti il costo è di 2000 Crediti che equivale a 2$.
Acquistando con i token DEC il costo di acquisto dipende dal valore dei token DEC. In base ai valori attuali di HIVE e DEC nel momento in cui scrivo questo post comprare un pacco di carte con i token DEC equivale a spendere 3,30 HIVE = 1,91$
Su HiveEngine invece ci sono 3 pacchi di carte Untamed in vendita a 2,99 SWAP.HIVE
2,99 HIVE equivalgono a 1,73$
Il costo più basso si ottiene se si comprano 500 pacchi di carte Untamed in blocco dal sito di Splinterland ma è necessario avere a disposizione 1 milione di token DEC.
Il valore stimato di un pacco di carte Untamed nel momento in cui scrivo questo post è di:
- 1.12$ nella situazione in cui non si hanno pozioni
- 1.45$ nella situazione in cui si utilizzano le pozioni Alchemiche
- 1.62$ nella situazione in cui si utilizzano le pozioni Leggendarie
- 2.05$ nella situazione in cui si utilizzano entrambe le pozioni Alchemiche e Leggendarie
Questi valori sono indicati nell'utile tool del sito di Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/packs)
Non conviene mai aprire un pacco di carte Untamed quando non si è in posseso di un sufficiente numero di pozioni alchemiche e leggendarie perchè in questo caso il valore stimato è sempre inferiore al costo di acquisto.
Tra l'altro le pozioni hanno il costo che puoi vedere nell'immagine seguente:
Io, giocando a Splinterlands ho accumulato un certo numero di pozioni e quindi considero nella mia valutazione di acquisto solo il valore stimato relativo al possesso di entrambe le pozioni che è di 2.05$.
Ho ritenuto profittevole acquistare i 3 pacchi di carte Untamed su HiveEngine perchè la differenza tra valore stimato e costo di acquisto è di 0.31$.
Dopo l'acquisto ho subito trasferito i pacchi Untamed da Hive Engine a Splinterlands
Nota: il valore stimato è un valore sempre più attendibile quando si apre un numero di pacchi superiore a 500. Nel mio caso la fortuna giocherà un ruolo fondamentale. Vediamo insieme cosa ho trovato nei tre pacchi di carte. Come puoi vedere dall'immagine seguente ho scelto l'apertura multipla.
Ed ecco tutte le carte che ho trovato all'interno dei tre pacchetti.
Come indicato dal sito di Peakmonsters il valore totale delle carte è di 4.04$ usando i prezzi di mercato. Io ho speso per l'acquisto 5.19$. Anche se ho perso circa 1.15$ di valore ritengo la mia scelta di acquisto comunque corretta e continuerò ad applicare questa mia strategia di acquisto in futuro. Se considero il totale dei pacchi di carte Untamed che ho comprato fino ad ora sono in largo profitto.
