Fomo o Real Value?
Splinterlands continues its unstoppable race and today the DEC token, the native token of my favorite blockchain-based game, reached its ATH (its highest value ever).
Just over 4 months ago (March 11, 2021) one DEC token was worth $0.00068. 1000 DEC tokens were worth $0.68
Just three days ago (July 20, 2021) one DEC token had the value of $0.00152. 1000 DEC tokens were worth $1.52
Today 23 July 2021 one DEC token is worth $0.00323
In fact at 19:02 83625 DEC tokens were sold at a price of 0.01098 HIVE.
1000 DEC tokens have reached the value of $3.22 (10.98 HIVE)
In just 3 days the increase in value was 112.50%!
It's really an exceptional result that shows all the strength and potential of a solid and well developed project like Splinterlands.
But this increase in value so sudden is the result of the so-called FOMO or the real value of DEC tokens?
FOMO or Real Value?
Splinterlands is my favorite game and it's also the project I believe in the most but I think this increase in value is mainly due to the upcoming Airdrop of Splinterlands governance tokens: the SPS tokens (BSC) and so I don't think it's a lasting value (I hope I'm wrong).
The Airdrop of the SPS tokens however will not be an airdrop like any other because it will have a duration of 365 days. Moreover only 13.33% of the total supply will be distributed through the Airdrop: 400 million SPS tokens.
Most of the SPS tokens (60%) will be distributed to active Splinterlands players (Battles and Tournaments) and those staking SPS tokens.
Here's the main reason why instead of buying DEC tokens at the current price, I've decided to spend a portion of my DEC tokens on buying cards from the Splinterlands marketplace.
Buy cards or buy DEC tokens?
Today I took advantage of the high value of DEC tokens to buy some cards in order to optimize and enhance my card collection.
For example today I bought several cards including 11 Electric Eels for which I spent 1617,519 DEC. Yesterday alone and for this purchase I would have spent more than double the amount of DEC tokens I spent today.
The most interesting aspect is that I spent 1617 DEC tokens but increased the DEC conversion value of my card collection by 1320 points. For airdrop purposes I have lost less than 300 points but I have added to my collection a card with a very useful ability (Blast) that will make me win more easily some battles and consequently I will earn more DEC tokens in the long run and also more SPS tokens since 30% will be distributed as a prize just for the victories in the battles and tournaments of Splinterlands.
I bought more cards besides the cards I showed you earlier and today I spent about 20000 DEC tokens. In the next few days the value of DEC tokens may still go up especially close to the initial day of the Splinterlands airdrop. I will continue to buy cards if I find interesting opportunities so in this situation I chose to think more about cards than DEC tokens. If Splinterlands will be more and more successful and will increase considerably the number of active players, I am convinced that among the various assets of Splinterlands will be more likely the cards (and plots) to increase in value and especially will be the cards useful in battle to maintain a certain support value more difficult to break. The DEC tokens on the contrary will always have more marked fluctuations than the cards.
Obviously this is just my thought and my strategy to buy cards instead of DEC tokens could be totally wrong but no one has the ability to predict the future and between making a decision and not making it I always prefer to move and choose, even if my choice could be wrong. I think that, even if in a small part, the sudden increase in the value of DEC tokens is due to the fact that not all Splinterlands players have read all the details of the distribution of SPS tokens.

DEC sulla Luna! Fomo o Valore Reale?
Splinterlands continua la sua corsa inarrestabile e oggi il token DEC, il token nativo del mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito, ha raggiunto il suo ATH (il suo massimo valore storico).
Poco più di 4 mesi fa (11 marzo 2021) un token DEC aveva il valore di 0.00068 $. 1000 token DEC valevano 0.68$
Solo tre giorni fa (20 luglio 2021) un token DEC aveva il valore di 0.00152$ 1000 token DEC valevano 1.52$
Oggi 23 luglio 2021 un token DEC vale 0.00323$
Infatti alle 19:02 sono stati venduti 83625 token DEC al prezzo di 0.01098 HIVE.
1000 token DEC hanno raggiunto il valore di 3.22$ (10.98 HIVE)
In soli 3 giorni l'incremento di valore è stato del 112.50%!
E' davvero un risultato eccezionale che mostra tutta la forza e la potenzialità di un progetto solido e ben sviluppato come Splinterlands.
Ma questo incremento di valore così repentino è frutto della cosidetta FOMO o del valore reale dei token DEC?

Splinterlands è il mio gioco preferito ed è anche il progetto su cui credo maggiormente ma penso che questo incremento di valore sia dovuto principalmente all'imminente Airdrop dei token di governance di Splinterlands: i token SPS (BSC) e quindi non credo che sia un valore duraturo (spero di sbagliarmi).
L'Airdrop dei token SPS però non sarà un airdrop come tutti gli altri perchè avrà una durata di 365 giorni. Inoltre solo il 13.33% della supply totale sarà distribuita tramite l'Airdrop: 400 milioni di token SPS.
La maggior parte dei token SPS (il 60%) sarà distribuita ai giocatori attivi di Splinterlands (Battaglie e Tornei) e a chi metterà in staking i token SPS.
Ecco il motivo principale per cui invece di comprare i token DEC al prezzo attuale ho deciso di spendere una parte dei miei token DEC nell'acquisto di carte dal mercato di Splinterlands.
Comprare le carte o comprare i token DEC
Oggi ho approfittato dell'alto valore dei token DEC per comprare alcune carte in modo da ottimizzare e potenziare la mia collezione di carte.
Ad esempio oggi ho comprato diverse carte tra cui anche 11 carte Electric Eels per le quali speso 1617.519 DEC. Solo ieri e per questo acquisto avrei speso un quantitativo di token DEC superiore al doppio di quanto ho speso oggi.
L'aspetto più interessante è che ho speso 1617 token DEC ma ho aumentato il valore di conversione in DEC della mia collezione di carte di 1320 punti. Ai fini dell'airdrop ho perso meno di 300 punti ma ho aggiunto alla mia collezione una carta con un'abilità molto utile (Blast) che mi farà vincere più facilmente alcune battaglie e di conseguenza mi farà guadagnare più token DEC nel lungo periodo e anche più token SPS dato che il 30% sarà distribuito come premio proprio per le vittorie nelle battaglie e nei tornei di Splinterlands.
Ho comprato altre carte e oggi ho speso circa 20000 token DEC. Nei giorni prossimi il valore dei token DEC potrà ancora salire soprattutto a ridosso del giorno iniziale dell'airdrop di Splinterlands. Io continuerò a comprare carte se troverò occasioni interessanti e quindi in questa situazione ho scelto di pensare più alle carte che ai token DEC.
Se Splinterlands avrà sempre più successo e aumenterà in modo considerevole il numero dei giocatori attivi sono convinto che tra i vari asset di Splinterlands saranno con più probabilità le carte ad aumentare di valore e soprattutto saranno le carte utili in battaglia a mantenere un determinato valore di supporto più difficile da rompere. I token DEC al contrario avranno sempre oscillazioni più marcate rispetto alle carte.
Ovviamente è solo il mio pensiero e la mia strategia di acquistare le carte invece dei token DEC potrebbe rivelarsi totalmente sbagliata ma nessuno ha la capacità di prevedere il futuro e tra prendere una decisione e non prenderla io preferisco sempre muovermi e scegliere, anche se poi la mia scelta potrebbe rivelarsi sbagliata. Penso che, anche se in piccola parte, l'aumento cosi repentino del valore dei token DEC sia dovuto al fatto che non tutti i giocatori di Splinterlands hanno letto tutti i dettagli della distribuzione dei token SPS.
