Video games have been a great passion of mine and would still be today if I had the time to play them. Today it is my life that often seems like a video game and it is similar to one video game in particular: Pac Man. As Pac-Man ran trying to escape from the ghosts, so I, who don't have a steady job and have several jobs at the same time, run trying to work as much as possible to guarantee my family and especially my daughter a better future, especially as far as studying is concerned.
My first console was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the first game I completed was Super Mario Bros.
Photo owned by @libertycrypto27Then I "closed the joypads in a drawer" and thought only about studying and working, got married and became a happy father of a little girl called Chiara who is now 7 years old.
My long (unwanted) break from video games and consoles ended on 31 October 2021 when my daughter asked her grandparents and uncles for money instead of presents for her birthday because she wanted to buy the Nintendo Switch. My daughter didn't reach the required amount and I added the missing part and so after many years a new Nintendo console together with the game Super Mario Odyssey entered my house.
From the two-dimensional world of the first Super Mario Bros. I found myself catapulted into the three-dimensional world of Super Mario Odyssey.
The first thing I said when I saw the game was WOW!
Super Mario Odissey is a really great game:
- nice graphics
- nice soundtrack
- great variety of game situations
- an almost infinite playability.
It's a game that's taken care of in all its details. Super Mario Odyssey is not a simple game but many games together.
Playing Super Mario Odyssey I also played the first Super Mario because some levels are just in retro style (8 bit).
I also played Donkey Kong during the party organized by the mayor of the world "Kingdom of the City".
So a nice return to the past.
The best thing about Super Mario Odyssey is that you can play it in two players mode: the cooperative mode.
It was fun to take control of a big T-Rex
In the final level of the game it was really great fun to take control of Mario's number one enemy: the fearsome and evil Bowser.
In the game Cappy plays a fundamental role and without Cappy Mario cannot pass the levels of the game and vice versa.
My daughter and I took turns in controlling Mario and Cappy and we had a lot of fun. My daughter is only 7 years old and some of the things she had to do in the game she couldn't do, but playing Super Mario also gave me an opportunity to try to educate her and encourage her not to stop when things get difficult.
Sshhh! Don't tell my daughter, it's a secret! But sometimes I used to pretend that I couldn't make a jump or defeat an enemy or an end-of-level monster just because I wanted her to do it ;)
The end-of-level monster that gave us the most trouble was the Dragon of the "Kingdom of Ruins". You should have seen my daughter's surprised face when she saw the dragon come out :)
Papi I'm a little bit scared!
And I answered her:
Come on love, we are an unbeatable team, this dragon tickles us both! :)
It took us a while because to defeat the dragon, Cappy (my daughter) had to extract the seals from the dragon's head, but since she was a bit afraid of the dragon, she couldn't do it easily.
When we beat him, my daughter was very happy and she jumped for joy.
It's great to be a kid, isn't it?
Super Mario Odyssey is not a difficult game to complete, the difficulty is deliberately set at a low level because it is a game intended for a wide age range and a wide audience of players. But the incredible variety of game situations makes Super Mario Odyssey a beautiful and long-lived game because when you finish it the first time you want to play it again.
Super Mario Odissey is a game that my daughter and I started playing with 4 hands and we completed it with 4 hands.
When I was little I saved Princess Peach by myself. When I was 42, I saved Princess Peach from Bowser's clutches with my daughter!
When I spend time with my daughter I am really happy and breathe the air of freedom. When I spend time with my daughter I relive the emotions of when I was a child through her happiness, her imagination and also through her little worries. When I spend time with my daughter I know that I have used my time in the best way.
That's why saving Princess Peach together with Chiara is and will always be my best videogame achievement ever.

La mia lunga interruzione (non voluta) dai videogames e dalle console è terminata il 31 Ottobre 2021 quando mia figlia ha chiesto a nonni e zii di ricevere soldi invece che regali per il suo compleanno perchè voleva comprarsi la Nintendo Switch. Mia figlia non ha raggiunto la cifra necessaria e io ho aggiunto la parte mancante e così dopo tanti anni una nuova console Nintendo insieme al gioco Super Mario Odissey è entrata a casa mia.
Dal mondo in due dimensioni del primo Super Mario Bros mi sono trovato catapultato nel mondo tridimensionale di Super Mario Odissey.
La prima cosa che ho detto quando ho visto il gioco è stata WOW!
Super Mario Odissey è un gioco davvero fantastico:
- bella grafica
- bella colonna sonora
- grande varietà di situazioni di gioco
- una giocabilità quasi infinita.
Un gioco curato in tutti i suoi dettagli. Super Mario Odissey non è un semplice gioco ma tanti giochi insieme.
Giocando a Super Mario Odissey ho rigiocato anche al primo super Mario perchè alcuni livelli sono proprio in stile retrò (8 bit).
Ho giocato anche a Donkey Kong durante la festa organizzata dal sindaco del mondo "Regno della city"
Insomma un bel ritorno al passato.
La cosa più bella di Super Mario Odissey è che si può giocare in modalità due giocatori: la modalità cooperativa.
La trama del gioco è semplice ma avvincente: Super Mario deve salvare la principessa Peach dalle grinfie di Bowser che vuole sposare Peach contro la sua volontà. Per riuscire nella sua impresa Mario ha bisogno dell'aiuto di un fidato e valoroso alleato: Cappy. Cappy è un cappello magico che ha la capacità di prendere il controllo dei nemici presenti nel gioco (tranne quelli di taglia più piccola).
E' stato divertente prendere il controllo di un grande T-Rex
Oppure prendere il controllo di una rana capace di saltare molto in alto o di un pesciolino per poter nuotare nel mare senza preoccuparsi della mancanza di ossigeno...
Nei livello finale del gioco è stato davvero molto divertente prendere il controllo del nemico numero 1 di Mario: il temibile e cattivo Bowser.
Nel gioco Cappy ha un ruolo fondamentale e senza Cappy Mario non può superare i livelli del gioco e viceversa.
Io e mia figlia ci siamo alternati nel comandare Mario e Cappy e ci siamo divertiti davvero tanto. Mia figlia ha solo 7 anni e alcune azioni da fare nel gioco non riusciva a farle ma giocare a Super Mario mi ha offerto anche un'occasione per cercare di educarla e spronarla a non fermarsi davanti alle difficoltà.
Sshhh! Non ditelo a mia figlia, è un segreto! Ma alcune volte facevo finta di non riuscire a fare un salto o a sconfiggere un nemico o un mostro di fine livello solo perchè volevo lo facesse lei ;)
Il mostro di fine livello che ci ha dato più filo da torcere è stato il Drago del "Regno dei Ruderi". Dovevate vedere la faccia sorpresa di mia figlia quando ha visto uscire il drago :)
Chiara mi ha subito detto:
Papi ho un pò paura!
E io le ho risposto:
Ma dai amore siamo una squadra imbattibile, questo drago ci fa il solletico a noi due! :)
Ci abbiamo impiegato un pò di tempo anche perchè per sconfiggere il drago Cappy (mia figlia) doveva estrarre dei sigilli dalla testa del drago ma visto che lei aveva un pò paura del drago non riusciva a farlo agevolmente.
Quando lo abbiamo battuto mia figlia era contentissima e ha fatto i salti di gioia.
Che bello essere bambini vero?
Super Mario Odissey non è un gioco difficile da completare, la difficoltà è tarata volutamente di livello basso perchè è un gioco destinato ad una larga fascia di età e ad un ampio pubblico di giocatori. Ma l'incredibile varietà delle situazioni di gioco rende Super Mario Odissey un gioco bellissimo e longevo perchè quando lo finisci la prima volta hai voglia di rigiocare.
Super Mario Odissey è un gioco che io e mia figlia abbiamo iniziato a giocare a 4 mani e lo abbiamo completato a 4 mani.
Quando ero piccolo ho salvato la principessa Peach da solo. A 42 anni ho salvato la principessa Peach dalle grinfie di Bowser insieme a mia figlia!
Quando passo del tempo con mia figlia sono davvero felice e respiro aria di libertà. Quando passo del tempo con mia figlia rivivo le emozioni di quando ero bambino attraverso la sua allegria, la sua fantasia e anche attraverso le sue piccole preoccupazioni. Quando passo del tempo con mia figlia so di aver impiegato il mio tempo nel modo migliore.
Ecco perchè salvare la principessa Peach insieme a Chiara è e sarà sempre il mio miglior risultato di sempre nell'ambito dei videogames.
