OneUp Cartel's investment on Farming Tales: Investment Story and Considerations + Financial Report No.23
Blockchain-based games are one of my passions and for this reason I like to play games but I also like to publish content related to the gaming projects I have decided to play and invest in on my Hive blog.
I am an active player/investor on almost all games developed on the Hive blockchain including games in early development and therefore not yet playable because Hive is my favorite blockchain project on which I have specific medium to long term growth goals and because supporting new projects built on Hive is a goal of mine.
The only non-Hive-based game I have decided to play and invest in is Farming Tales which is an NFT-based game built on the WAX blokchain.
I chose to invest in and play Farming Tales because it has particularities that differentiate it from most other blockchain-based farming games.
1. Most Farming games have minimalist and unattractive graphics while Farming Tales has beautiful graphics and uses a 3D graphics engine (Unity). On Farming Tales you can use the directional keys on your keyboard to turn around your farm and perform game actions.
2. The Farming Tales team is very active:
- in developing the game
- in creating initiatives for players
- in answering players' questions on the Discord server
- in creating connections and partnerships with other blockchain projects.
3. Another element that convinced me to play Farming Tales is that Farming Tales chose Hive's blockchain to:
- post updates related to the game (account: @farmingtales).

I started playing and investing on Farming Tales on Dec. 30, 2021, and on Jan. 29, 2022 I added to my personal investment the management of the Cartel project investment on Farming Tales, a management that @flauwy entrusted me with after reading my financial evaluations on the game.
I always do financial evaluations before investing in a blockchain-based game, and my starting point is always the cost analysis and the calculation and prediction of whether the break-even point will be reached.
For example, on January 26, 2022, the combination of NFTs: Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo had a cost of 164 WAX = $45.43.
The combination of NFTs Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo allows you to earn 27 SEST tokens (Farming Tales' native tokens) with each Harvest operation. On January 26 I had calculated the estimated annual profit of the combination of NFTs which was $72.61 and corresponded to an **estimated annual ROI of +91.59%. In the following images you can see the calculation of profit and estimated ROI that I had made on January 26, 2022.
In less than 1 year I would not only reach the break even point but also make a nice profit and only with Harvest operations.
But forecasts are only forecasts and can turn out better or worse. By the way, the crypto world is in a Bear Market situation and many blockchain projects have seen declines in assets value.
Today and 238 days later, I recalculated the profit and ROI obtainable from buying the same combination of NFTs.
Today the Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo combination has a cost of 50.69 WAX = $4.34.
Those who invest today and purchase the combination of NFTs I have shown still have a positive expected financial outcome because against an investment of $4.34 they could realize an estimated annual profit of $4.42 which corresponds to an estimated annual ROI of +68.87%.
So those who invest today are starting from a positive financial valuation but those who invested in January 2022 and simply hodl and collect rewards are most probably in a loss-making situation.
In fact, the value in WAX of the Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo combination from January 26, 2022 to today has lost 69.09% of its value and the situation regarding the dollar value is even worse: -90.42%.
Fortunately, not all Farming Tales NFTs have lost value and some have retained their value such as the NFT GreenHouse which has a market value in terms of WAX tokens almost equal to the cost I incurred to purchase it on February 27, 2022.
Just the GreenHouse was the best purchase I made for both my personal investment and Cartel's investment because in addition to keeping its value in WAX almost intact it produces every day an NFT Seed Box totally free of charge whose current market value is 2.1 WAX.
But why did I show the above data?
To show how a beautiful, special game project with potential like Farming Tales:
- may have been a losing investment for those who purchased in January a combination of NFT Arlequin Goat + Stable.
- may have been a good investment for those who bought a GreenHouse and sold the NFT Seed Boxes: profit +348.03 WAX - ROI: +73.87%.
Based on what I have shown you so far, it is easy to understand that Cartel's investment management has not been a simple and easy one but it has been a management that started out on an uphill climb due to:
- the gradual decrease in the value of tokens and some NFTs in Farming Tales
- of the decrease in the value of the WAX token which due to the Bear Market has a much lower value than the day Cartel invested in Farming Tales.
But even though it was not easy to manage Cartel's investment for the reasons I listed above in the same way I still had fun because I had to adapt to the market situation and did not stop at the simple and easy collection of rewards...
OneUp Cartel's investment management on Farming Tales by me started on January 29, 2022 and today, September 21, 2022, it has been 236 days.
OneUp Cartel invested in the Farming Tales project in two successive times:
- First investment: 500 HBD (January 29, 2022)
- Second investment: 250 WAX (March 1, 2022)
From the conversion of HBD tokens to WAX tokens, I obtained 1583 WAX tokens, which when added to the second investment of 250 WAX produced a total of 1833 WAX tokens.
1833 WAX tokens is therefore the total amount of tokens I had available to invest in Farming Tales.
I used the 1833 WAX tokens in the following ways:
- Purchase of NFT: 1585.59 WAX
- Purchase of WAX Resources (CPU,RAM,NET): 51.54 WAX
- Purchase of 14970 SEST tokens: 195.00 WAX
- Cost of trading on Alcor Exchange: 0.87 WAX
The value of the NFT collection of the Cartel project
In the table below you can see the list updated to date (August 4, 2022) of NFTs owned by Cartel with the indication:
- of the purchase prices
- of the payment method used to purchase them
- of the current market prices on AtomicHub/NeftyBlocks
- of the difference between the purchase price and the current market value for each NFT purchased.
Compared with my previous report, the composition of the NFT collection of the Cartel project has remained unchanged because I have not sold and bought NFTs in the last 26 days. Some NFTs have increased in value while others have decreased in value but compared to the previous report the market value of Cartel's collection is quite stable because I record a decrease in total value of only $1.
Total market value: -396.18 WAX = -$42.06 (previous report: -386.70 WAX = -$41.06)
The value of CBIT and SEST tokens accumulated and not reinvested
In the prospectus the total initial investment cost is the total amount of WAX tokens I had available to invest: 1833 WAX.
Compared to the previous report (August 26, 2022), the financial results (Profit and ROI) in terms of WAX tokens returned positive.
Profit: +38.67 WAX = +3.32$ (Previous report profit: -97.13 WAX = -10.31$) ROI: +2.11% (ROI previous report: -5.30%)
For the Cartel project, I invested a total of 1833 WAX tokens and got a total investment value (Assets + Rewards) of 1871.68 WAX so far: +38.67 WAX.
Considering the investment only in terms of WAX tokens the financial results (Profit and ROI) are positive but in the financial analysis of a blockchain investment you also have to take into consideration the value of the tokens used to buy the assets of the project at the time you buy the assets.
In the following image you can see the prospectus I created to track two financial results that take into consideration:
- the value of the 500 HBD and 250 WAX at the time of their use
- the current value of Cartel's investment in WAX tokens and in dollars.
- the current value of Cartel's investment in WAX tokens and dollars.
The results of the above prospectus allow for two important considerations:
- the management of Cartel's investment in Farming Tales on my part has been positive so far because I have increased the amount of WAX tokens initially invested despite the current market conditions, and I am very pleased with this because the Cartel project is one of my favorite projects.
- Cartel's investment will realize a profit in dollar terms when and if the WAX token returns to the value it had when Cartel's investment started (January 29, 2022).
The current Bear Market situation has particularly affected the WAX blockchain and in fact, as you can see from the chart below, the value of the WAX token has never exceeded $0.13 in the last 3 months.
A WAX token value of 0.2985 would allow the break-even point to be reached while a higher value would yield a profit and positive ROI considering the dollar value.
If I had limited myself to collecting game rewards and selling NFT Seed Boxes today Cartel's initial investment of 1833 WAX would have been worth about 1100 WAX.
Given the immediately uphill start I had to implement alternative strategies to simply collecting game rewards.
Thanks to the Crafting and Blending features on Farming Tales NFTs, I was able to make trading trades on NFTs and particularly on legendary-type NFTs by buying at a low price and selling at a higher price.
The positive result of the completed NFT trading operations constitute almost 40% of the current value of Cartel's investment on Farming Tales and therefore I will try to do more of them in the future.
To recapitulate, my investment plan on Farming Tales for the next few days will be as follows:
- I will continue to collect game rewards
- I will continue to sell the NFT Seed Boxes produced free and daily by the NFT Green House
- I will continue to try to trade on NFTs by buying at low prices to resell at higher prices.
One of my main goals, both in my personal investment and in the investment I manage for Cartel, is to transform Farming Tales from a Play To Earn game to a Free To Play game.
To achieve this goal in Cartel's investment I will need to accumulate an amount of liquid WAX tokens equal to the amount of WAX tokens I initially had available: 1833 WAX.
Compared to the previous report, I have increased the amount of liquid WAX in Cartel's wallet, which now contains 750 liquid WAX and I have covered 40.92% of the path to the goal.
Before I finish writing this report of mine, I want to share a personal reflection.
Farming Tales is a really nice project, it is a young project because it is less than a year old and, despite the declining value of tokens and NFTs, it has so much potential in my opinion because the development team has done and is doing a really good job but my personal belief as a modest and simple gamer and lover of blockchain-based games is that:
if Farming Tales had chosen Hive as the blockchain on which to build the game maybe it would not have had the success it had initially on WAX which was impressive but it would have had a steady and progressive growth instead of the current decline in attention. If Farming Tales had chosen Hive it would have been more successful because, don't get upset WAX friends, Wax is in my opinion a beautiful blockchain project but Hive with its large and strong community and its many utilities is more unique than rare!
There are some interesting new features coming in the Farming Tales game and in the next post I will show them to you ;)

I giochi basati su blockchain sono una delle mie passioni e per questo motivo mi piace giocare ma mi piace anche pubblicare contenuti inerenti ai progetti di gaming in cui ho deciso di giocare e investire sul mio Hive blog.
Sono un giocatore/investitore attivo su quasi tutti i giochi sviluppati sulla blockchain di Hive compresi i giochi in fase di sviluppo iniziale e quindi non ancora giocabili perchè Hive è il mio progetto blockchain preferito su cui ho precisi obiettivi di crescita di medio-lungo termine e supportare i nuovi progetti costruiti su Hive è un mio obiettivo.
L'unico gioco non Hive-based a cui ho deciso di giocare ed investire è Farming Tales che è un gioco basato su NFT costruito sulla blokchain di WAX.
Ho scelto di investire e giocare a Farming Tales perchè ha delle particolarità che lo differenziano dalla maggior parte degli altri giochi di farming basati su blockchain.
1. La maggior parte dei giochi di Farming ha una grafica minimalista e poco attrattiva mentre Farming Tales ha una grafica bella e usa un motore grafico 3D (Unity). Su Farming Tales è possibile utilizzare i tasti direzionali della tastiera per girare nella propria fattoria e per effettuare le azioni di gioco.
2. Il team di Farming Tales è molto attivo:
- nello sviluppo del gioco
- nel creare iniziative per i giocatori
- nel rispondere alle domande dei giocatori sul server Discord
- nel creare connessioni e partnerships con altri progetti blockchain.
3. Un'altro elemento che mi ha convinto a giocare a Farming Tales è che Farming Tales ha scelto la blockchain di Hive per:
- pubblicare aggiornamenti relativi al gioco (account: @farmingtales).

Cartel Investment Story
Ho iniziato a giocare ed investire su Farming Tales il 30 dicembre 2021 e il 29 gennaio 2022 ho affiancato al mio investimento personale anche la gestione dell'investimento del progetto Cartel su Farming Tales, gestione che mi ha affidato @flauwy dopo aver letto le mie valutazioni finanziarie sul gioco.
Faccio sempre delle valutazioni finanziarie prima di investire in un gioco basato su blockchain e il mio punto di partenza è sempre l'analisi dei costi e il calcolo e la previsione del raggiungimento del punto di pareggio.
Ad esempio il 26 gennaio 2022 la combinazione di NFTs: Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo aveva un costo di 164 WAX = 45.43$.
La combinazione di NFTs Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo permette di guadagnare 27 token SEST (i token nativi di Farming Tales) ad ogni operazione di Harvest. Il 26 gennaio avevo calcolato il profitto stimato annuale della combinazione di NFTs che era di 72.61$ e che corrispondeva ad un ROI stimato annuale del +91.59%. Nelle immagini seguenti puoi vedere il calcolo del profitto e del ROI stimato che avevo effettuato il 26 gennaio 2022.
In meno di 1 anno non solo avrei raggiunto il punto di break even ma avrei realizzato anche un bel profitto e solo con le operazioni di Harvest.
Ma le previsioni sono soltato previsioni e possono risultare migliori o peggiori. Tra l'altro il mondo crypto è in una situazione di Bear Market e molti progetti blockchain hanno registrato diminuzioni nel valore degli assets.
Oggi e a distanza di 238 giorni ho ricalcolato il profitto e il ROI ottenibile dall'acquisto della stessa combinazione di NFTs.
Oggi la combinazione Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo ha un costo di 50.69 WAX = 4.34$.
Chi investe oggi e acquista la combinazione di NFT che ho mostrato ha ancora un risultato finanziario atteso positivo perchè a fronte di un investimento di 4.34$ potrebbe realizzare un profitto stimato atteso annuale di 4.42$ che corrisponde ad un ROI stimato annuale di +68.87%.
Quindi chi investe oggi parte da una valutazione finanziaria positiva ma chi ha investito a gennaio 2022 e ha semplicemente hodlato e raccolto ricompese si troverà per forza di cose in una situazione di perdita.
Infatti il valore in WAX della combinazione Arlequin Goat + Stable + Silo dal 26 gennaio 2022 ad oggi ha perso il 69.09% del suo valore e la situazione relativa al valore in dollari è ancora peggiore: -90.42%.
Fortunatamente non tutti gli NFT di Farming Tales hanno perso valore e alcuni hanno mantenuto il loro valore come ad esempio l'NFT GreenHouse che ha un valore di mercato in termini di token WAX quasi uguale al costo che ho sostenuto per acquistarlo il 27 febbraio 2022.
Proprio il GreenHouse è stato il migliore acquisto che ho fatto sia per il mio investimento personale che per l'investimento di Cartel perchè oltre ad aver mantenuto quasi intatto il suo valore in WAX procuce ogni giorno un NFT Seed Box in modo totalmente gratuito il cui valore di mercato attuale è di 2.1 WAX.
Ma perchè ho mostrato i dati precedenti?
Per mostrare come un progetto di gioco bello, particolare e con potenziale come Farming Tales:
- può essere stato un investimento in perdita per chi ha acquistato a gennaio una combinazione di NFT Arlequin Goat + Stable.
- può essere stato un ottimo investimento per chi ha acquistato un GreenHouse e ha venduto gli NFT Seed Box: profit +348.03 WAX - ROI: +73.87%.
Sulla base di quello che ti ho mostrato fino ad ora è facilmente intuibile che la gestione dell'investimento di Cartel non è stata una gestione semplice e facile ma è stata una gestione che è partita in salita a causa:
- della progressiva diminuzione del valore dei token e di alcuni NFTs di Farming Tales
- della diminuzione del valore del token WAX che per effetto del Bear Market ha un valore molto più basso rispetto al giorno in cui Cartel ha investito su Farming Tales.
Ma anche se non è stato semplice gestire l'investimento di Cartel per i motivi che ti ho elencato sopra allo stesso modo mi sono comunque divertito perchè mi sono dovuto adattare alla situazione di mercato e non mi sono fermato alla semplice e facile raccolta delle ricompense...
La gestione dell'investimento di OneUp Cartel su Farming Tales da parte mia è iniziata il 29 gennaio 2022 e oggi 21 settembre 2022 sono passati 208 giorni.
OneUp Cartel ha investito nel progetto di Farming Tales in due momenti successivi:
- Primo investimento: 500 HBD (29 gennaio 2022)
- Secondo investimento: 250 WAX (1 marzo 2022)
Dalla conversione dei token HBD in token WAX ho ottenuto 1583 token WAX che sommati al secondo investimento di 250 WAX hanno prodotto un totale di 1833 token WAX. 1833 token WAX è quindi il toltale di token che ho avuto a disposizione per investire su Farming Tales.
Ho utilizzato i 1833 token WAX nel seguente modo:
- Acquisto di NFT: 1585.59 WAX
- Acquisto di Risorse WAX (CPU): 51.54 WAX
- Acquisto di 14970 token SEST: 195.00 WAX
- Costi per operazioni di trading su Alcor Exchange: 0.87 WAX
Il valore della collezione di NFT del progetto Cartel
Nella tabella seguente puoi vedere l'elenco aggiornato ad oggi (21 settembre 2022) degli NFT di proprietà di Cartel con l'indicazione:
- dei prezzi di acquisto
- del metodo di pagamento utilizzato per acquistarli
- dei prezzi di mercato attuali su AtomicHub/NeftyBlocks
- della differenza tra il prezzo di acquisto e il valore attuale di mercato per ogni NFT acquistato.
Rispetto al mio report precedente la composizione della collezione di NFT del progetto Cartel è rimasta invariata perchè non ho venduto e comprato NFT negli ultimi 26 giorni. Alcuni NFT hanno aumentato il loro valore mentre altri lo hanno diminuito ma rispetto al report precedente il valore di mercato della collezione di Cartel è abbastanza stabile perchè registro una diminuzione del valore totale di soltanto 1$.
Valore totale di mercato: -396.18 WAX = -42.06$ (report precedente: -386.70 WAX = -41.06$)
Il valore dei token CBIT e SEST accumulati e non reinvestiti
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere il prospetto che ho creato per avere una visione sintetica e immediata dell'investimento su Farming Tales che gestisto per il progetto Cartel.
Nel prospetto il totale dei costi di investimento iniziale è il quantitativo totale di token WAX che ho avuto a disposizione da investire: 1833 WAX.
Rispetto al report precedente (26 agosto 2022) i risultati finanziari (Profit e ROI) in termini di WAX token sono ritornati positivi.
Profit: +38.67 WAX = +3.32$ (Profit report precedente: -97.13 WAX = -10.31$) ROI: +2.11% (ROI report precedente: -5.30%)
Per il progetto Cartel ho investito un totale di 1833 token WAX e ho ottenuto fino ad ora un valore totale dell'investimento (Assets + Rewards) di 1871.68 WAX: +38.67 WAX.
Considerando l'investimento esclusivamente in termini di WAX token i risultati finanziari (Profit e ROI) sono positivi ma nell'analisi finanziaria di un investimento blockchain bisogna tenere conto anche del valore dei token utilizzati per acquistare gli assets del progetto nel momento in cui si acquistano gli assets.
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere il secondo prospetto che ho creato per tenere traccia di due risultati finanziari che tengono conto:
- del quantitativo di token WAX che ho avuto a disposizione da investire
- del valore dei 500 HBD e dei 250 WAX (investimenti iniziali) al momento della loro conversione (token HBD) e del loro utilizzo (token WAX)
- il valore attuale dell'investimento di Cartel in token WAX e in dollari.
I risultati del prospetto precedente permettono di fare due considerazioni importanti:
- la gestione dell'investimento di Cartel su Farming Tales da parte mia è stata fino ad ora positiva perchè ho aumentato il quantitativo di token WAX investito inizialmente nonostante le condizioni attuali di mercato e sono molto soddisfatto di questo perchè il progetto Cartel è uno dei miei progetti preferiti.
- l'investimento di Cartel realizzerà un profitto in termini di dollari quando e se il token WAX ritornerà al valore che aveva quando è iniziato l'investimento di Cartel (29 gennaio 2022).
La situazione di Bear Market attuale ha colpito in particolar modo la blockchain di WAX e infatti, come puoi vedere dal grafico seguente, il valore del token WAX non ha mai superato il valore di 0.13$ negli ultimi 3 mesi.
Un valore del token WAX di 0.2985 permetterebbe di raggiungere il punto di break-even mentre un valore superiore produrrebbe un profitto ed un ROI positivo considerando il valore in dollari.
Se mi fossi limitato a raccogliere le ricompense di gioco e a vendere gli NFT Seed Box oggi l'investimento iniziale di Cartel di 1833 WAX avrebbe avuto un valore di circa 1100 WAX.
Data la partenza subito in salita ho ho dovuto mettere in pratica delle strategie alternative alla semplice raccolta delle ricompense di gioco.
Grazie alle funzionalità di Crafting e Blending sugli NFT di Farming Tales sono riuscito a fare delle operazioni di trading sugli NFT e in particolare sugli NFT di tipo leggendario comprando ad un prezzo basso e vendendo ad un prezzo più alto.
Il risultato positivo delle operazioni di trading sugli NFT portate a termine costituiscono quasi il 40% del valore attuale dell'investimento di Cartel su Farming Tales e per questo motivo cercherò di farne altre in futuro.
Ricapitolando il mio piano di investimento su Farming Tales per i prossimi giorni sarà il seguente:
- continuerò a raccogliere le ricompense di gioco
- continuerò a vendere gli NFT Seed Box prodotti in modo gratuito e giornalmente dall'NFT Green House
- continuerò a cercare di fare operazioni di trading sugli NFT acquistando a prezzi bassi per rivendere a prezzi più alti.
Uno degli obiettivi principali che mi sono posto, sia nel mio investimento personale che nell'investimento che gestisco per Cartel, è di trasformare Farming Tales da un gioco Play To Earn ad un gioco Free To Play.
Per raggiungere questo obiettivo nell'investimento di Cartel dovrò accumulare un quantitativo di token WAX liquidi uguale al quantitativo di token WAX che ho avuto a disposizione inizialmente: 1833 WAX.
Rispetto al precedente report ho incrementato il quantitativo di WAX liquidi nel wallet di Cartel che adesso contiene 750 WAX liquidi e ho coperto il 40.92% del percorso verso l'obiettivo.
Prima di terminare la scrittura di questo mio report voglio condividere una riflessione personale.
Farming Tales è davvero un bel progetto, è un progetto giovane perchè ha meno di un anno di vita e, nonostante il calo di valore dei token e degli NFT, ha tanto potenziale secondo me perchè il team di sviluppo ha fatto e sta facendo davvero un bel lavoro ma la mia personale convinzione da modesto e semplice giocatore e amante dei giochi basati su blockchain è che:
se Farming Tales avesse scelto Hive come blockchain su cui costruire il gioco forse non avrebbe avuto il successo che ha avuto inizialmente su WAX che è stato impressionante ma avrebbe avuto una costante e progressiva crescita invece del calo di attenzione attuale. Se Farming Tales avesse scelto Hive avrebbe avuto un successo maggiore perchè, non me ne vogliano gli amici di WAX, Wax è secondo me un bel progetto blockchain ma Hive con la sua grande e forte comunità e le sue tante utilità è più unica che rara!
