On August 2, Splinterlands enabled the Staking functionality of new Splintershards (SPS) tokens. SPS tokens are BEP-20 (Binance Smart Chain) tokens and are the governance tokens of the Splinterlands game.

Compared to the early days the value of the SPS tokens has dropped and at the time of writing this post the value is $0.292 which is still a good value.

The Splinterlands game was my first blockchain-based game that I signed up for and it was love at first sight. When I signed up on October 19, 2019, I immediately saw potential in this game and after 6 days I published my first post about the Splinterlands game. In my first post I wrote my first impressions (October 25, 2019):

Splinterlands is a really nice game. After just two battles, I immediately realized that I was in front of a game with great potential:

• beautiful graphics in full comic style
• fun game
• right amount of time needed to complete a battle (about 2 minutes).

Since that day a little less than two years have passed but I still see potential in the game of Splinterlands and for this reason I decided not to sell any SPS token in my possession and instead I decided to put them all in Staking to get an additional reward.

Why have I decided to stack SPS tokens?

Tokens can be classified into two categories. There are tokens that have a purely speculative value such as Dgecoin tokens that have no use other than to be sold and bought to make profit. Then there are tokens that have more use cases and these are the tokens that generally have potential, potential that is closely related to the blockchain project they are part of.

SPS tokens are part of the second category. They don't currently have use cases but will have many in the future:

• they are governance tokens and future decisions will be influenced by the opinion of SPS token holders
• in the future to access game events it will be necessary to have a minimum of SPS tokens
• A minimum amount of SPS tokens will be required to participate in the pre-sales of new card collections.
• ...

The more use cases a token has, the more its value is bound to go up, especially during those occasions when possession of the token is required.

Hence the reason for my choice!

My first six days of Staking

Since August 2 and up until today I have always put the SPS tokens I received from airdrop into Staking.

On August 2nd I had 761.84 SPS tokens in staking.

Today, August 7 and after 11 days of Airdrop I have a total of 1237.75 SPS tokens (Staked) which have an approximate value of $360.83.

Yesterday, August 6 at 22:44 I made the claim of the tokens received from the staking activity and today at 11:47 I made a screenshot to check how many tokens I had obtained after 15 hours. As you can see from the following image in 15 hours I got 7.5 SPS tokens (2.19$) in a completely passive way.

So far and in less than 5 days of staking I got 50.39 SPS tokens ($14.71).

The APR is really high: 350.51%.

This APR will go down if many players decide to staking their SPS tokens and will increase if not. From August 2 until now the APR percentage has been steadily decreasing and will continue to decrease and this is another reason why I have staked my SPS tokens now.

I'm not a financial consultant and I don't have the ability to predict the future (unfortunately) but I'm convinced that not selling SPS tokens and putting them on stake is the right choice at least for a player like me who plays and enjoys playing Splinterlands.

Rispetto ai primi giorni il valore dei token SPS è sceso e nel momento in cui scrivo questo post il valore è di 0.292$ che è comunque un buon valore.

Il gioco di Splinterlands è stato il mio primo gioco basato su blockchain a cui mi sono iscritto ed è stato un amore a prima vista. Quando mi sono iscritto, il 19 ottobre 2019, ho subito visto del potenziale in questo gioco e dopo 6 giorni ho pubblicato il mio primo post sul gioco di Splinterlands. Nel mio primo post scrivevo le mie prime impressioni (25 ottobre 2019):

Splinterlands è davvero un bel gioco. Dopo appena due battaglie, mi sono subito reso conto di essere davanti ad un gioco con un grande potenziale:

• grafica bella e in pieno stile fumetto
• gioco divertente
• giusta quantità di tempo necessaria per completare una battaglia (circa 2 minuti).

Da quel giorno sono passati poco meno di due anni ma ancora oggi vedo del potenziale nel gioco di Splinterlands e per questo motivo ho deciso di non vendere nessun token SPS in mio possesso e al contrario ho deciso di metterli tutti in Staking per ottenere un'ulteriore ricompensa aggiuntiva.

Perchè ho deciso di mettere in staking i token SPS?

I token possono essere classificati in due categorie. Ci sono token che hanno un valore puramente speculativo come ad esempio i token Dgecoin che non hanno nessuna utilità se non quella di essere venduti e comprati per fare profitto. Poi ci sono token che hanno più casi d'uso e questi sono i token che hanno generalmente del potenziale, potenziale che è strettamente legato al progetto blockchain di cui fanno parte.

I token SPS appartengono alla seconda categoria. Al momento non hanno casi d'uso ma ne avranno molti in futuro:

• sono token di governance e le future decisioni saranno influenzate dal parere dei possessori di token SPS
• in futuro per accedere a eventi di gioco sarà necessario avere un minimo di token SPS
• per partecipare alle prevendite delle nuove collezioni di carte sarà richiesto un minimo quantitativo di token SPS
• ...

Più casi d'uso ha un token e più il suo valore è destinato a salire soprattutto durante le occasioni in cui il possesso del token è richiesto.

Ecco spiegato il motivo della mia scelta!

I miei primi sei giorni di Staking

Dal 2 agosto e fino ad oggi ho sempre messo i token SPS che ho ricevuto dall'airdrop in Staking.

Il due agosto avevo 761.84 token SPS in staking.

Oggi 7 agosto e dopo 11 giorni di Airdrop ho un totale di 1237.75 token SPS (Staked) che hanno un valore approssimativo di 360.83$

Ieri 6 agosto alle 22.44 ho fatto il claim dei token ricevuti dall'attività di staking e oggi alle 11.47 ho fatto uno screenshot per verificare quanti token avevo ottenuto dopo 15 ore. Come puoi vedere dall'immagine seguente in 15 ore ho ottenuto 7.5 token SPS (2.19$) in modo completamente passivo.

Fino ad ora e in meno di 5 giorni di staking ho ottenuto 50.39 token SPS (14.71$).

L'APR è davvero alto: 350.51%.

Questo APR scenderà se molti giocatori decideranno di mettere in staking i propri token SPS e aumenterà nel caso contrario. Dal 2 agosto fino ad oggi la percentuale APR è in costante diminuizione e continuerà a diminuire e questo è un altro motivo che mi ha spinto a mettere subito in staking i miei token SPS.

Non sono un consulente finanziario e non ho la capacità di prevedere il futuro (purtroppo) ma sono convinto che non vendere i token SPS e metterli in stake sia la scelta giusta almeno per un giocatore come me che gioca e si diverte a giocare a Splinterlands.
