SteamPunk: Beautiful and particular artisanal creations exposed at the Naples Oriental Festival / Belle e particolari creazioni artigianali esposte al Festival Orientale di Napoli (ENG/ITA)

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, I was in Naples in the company of my wife, my daughter and my two sisters. The reason for my trip to Naples was the Oriental Festival held in the fairgrounds "Fiera Oltremare" on September 9-10 and September 16-17.

I had a great time because there were so many things to do, to see, to buy and also to eat with over 30 restaurants with cuisines from different parts of the world.

Among the many items exhibited and for sale in the various stands some were really special such as the creations of the artisans of "A Tutto Vapore" (translation: "Full Steam") that immediately caught my attention because I had never seen creations of this type before.

I love the fantasy genre and consequently each of these objects stimulated my imagination like the creation in the following photo which is really very unique and visually striking.

I did a search on the Internet and found that these creations are part of the SteamPunk style, which is a term coined by writer K. W. Jeter in 1987. So the term Steampunk was initially born to define literary works of the science fiction genre but later became a term that identifies a cultural current that has influenced not only narrative but also fashion, film, design and art such as the creations of the artisans I photographed on Sunday and share in this post.

The artisan also used stringed musical instruments as a starting point for his creations.

The following photo shows a fish holding up a ship. Out of curiosity, I asked the price of this item: 160 euros.

I also really liked the lantern fish lamp where the lantern is a small globe.

In the next photo there is a very original bag with an integrated watch and phone.

I was also fascinated by the suitcases with really special and even bizarre contents in some cases.

Domenica 17 settembre 2023 sono stato a Napoli in compagnia di mia moglie, mia figlia e le due mie sorelle. Il motivo del mio viaggio a Napoli è stato il Festival Orientale che si è svolto nel polo fieristico "Fiera Oltremare" nei giorni 9-10 settembre e 16-17 settembre.

Mi sono divertito molto perchè c'erano tante cose da fare, da vedere, da comprare e anche da mangiare con oltre 30 ristoranti con cucine provenienti da diverse parti del mondo.

Tra i tanti oggetti in esposizione e in vendita nei vari stands alcuni erano davvero particolari come le creazioni degli artigiani di "A tutto vapore" che hanno subito attirato la mia attenzione perchè non avevo mai visto creazioni di questo tipo.

Amo il genere fantascentifico e di conseguenza ognuno di questi oggetti ha stimolato la mia immaginazione come la creazione nella foto seguente che è davvero molto particolare e di impatto visivo.

Ho fatto una ricerca su internet è ho scoperto che queste creazioni appartengono allo stile SteamPunk che è un termine coniato dallo scrittore K. W. Jeter nel 1987. Il termine Steampunk è quindi nato inizialmente per definire opere letterarie del genere fantascentifico ma poi è diventato un termine che identifica una vere e propria corrente culturale che ha influenzato, oltre alla narrativa, anche la moda, il cinema, il design e l'arte come le creazioni degli artigiani che ho fotografato domenica e che condivido in questo post.

L'artigiano ha usato anche gli strumenti musicali a corde come punto di partenza delle sue creazioni.

Nella foto seguente c'è un pesce che sorregge una nave. Per curiosità ho chiesto il prezzo di questo articolo: 160 euro.

Mi è piaciuta molto anche la lampada a forma di pesce lanterna dove la lanterna è un piccolo mappamondo.

Nella foto seguente c'è invece una borsa molto originale con orologio e telefono integrato.

Mi hanno affascinato anche le valigie con dei contenuti davvero particolari e anche bizzarri in alcuni casi.
