Terracore Review: Introduction, Requirements, Registration Step by Step, Break Even Point Calculation
Readers of my Hive blog know well my passion for blockchain-based games and also my passion for Hive which is my favorite blockchain project.
The number of games built and developed on the Hive blockchain is continuously increasing and consequently the number of games I play is also increasing.
Yesterday I decided to try Terracore which thus became my twelfth Hive-based game and was added to the following list of games I play:

Terracore is an indie game developed by @crypt0gnome and is an idle game set in an apocalyptic world.
On Terracore, players must mine SCRAP tokens, the game's native tokens, which are needed to improve game stats and survive in the game.

To start playing on Terracore:

1. You must have a Hive account. If you do not have a Hive account, you can create one by following a few simple steps. I wrote two step-by-step guides in which I showed how to create a Hive account via:

2. You need to install the Hive Keychain extension for your browser.
- 3. You have to pay a registration fee (Citizenship) of: 20 HIVE
If you decide to register and use my refferal link I will send you 50% of my earnings to your wallet: 1 HIVE/2 = 0.5 HIVE.
The registration procedure is very simple. STEP 1: From the home page you need to: - 1: enter your Hive account name. - 2: then you have to click on Connect and click on Confirm in the Hive Keychain window.
STEP 2: A screen will open where you have to: - 1: click on PURCHASE. - 2: authorize and confirm the transfer of 20 HIVE by clicking on Confirm in the Hive Keychain window.
On the next screen you will receive a Helpful Tip which consists of an invitation to click on CLAIM (bottom center of the screen).
STEP 3: You must click on CLAIM to earn your first SCRAP token which will be automatically transferred to your wallet on Hive Engine.
You can check the amount of SCRAP tokens you have in your wallet on Hive Engine from the indicator at the top of Terracore's main screen.
I created a table in which I entered:
- the images of the main stats found on the Terracore home page
- the information about each stat that I took from the Terracore wiki.

On my first day of play on Terracore, I accumulated 4 SCRAP which I used to increase 4 stats: Engineering, Damage, Defense and Stash Size.
The initial Mine Rate is 0.0001 SCRAP per second and this means that 0.36 SCRAP can be accumulated every hour.
With the initial Stash Size (1) you can accumulate a maximum of 1 SCRAP without making the Claim. If you do not make the claim on time you will lose all the production of the mining exceeding the amount of 1 SCRAP.
For this reason, I chose as my first upgrade the Stash Size. The cost was 1 SCRAP and I increased the maximum amount of SCRAP I can accumulate in my STASH from 1 to 2 units.
Important note: The SCRAPs contained in the STASH are not safe because they could become the loot of another player's attack and are transferred to the wallet only when you make the Claim.
For this reason, in addition to increasing the capacity of my STASH, I also increased my defense statistic: DEFENSE: 10->20
As a third upgrade I chose to increase my MINE RATE by upgrading the Enginering statistic and my Mine Rate increased by +10%.
Upgrading the game stats is easy because you just click on the symbol + next to each stats.
The initial cost of upgrading each stat is 1 but then the cost increases exponentially for each subsequent upgrade. To show you this mechanism, I did an additional upgrade of the Enginering stat. As you can see in the following image my next upgrade will cost me 9 SCRAP
I also tried the BATTLE feature of Terracore. In fact, it is possible to attack other players to take away some of the SCRAP they have accumulated in their STASH.
To attack another player, I clicked on BATTLE (bottom right of the main screen)
On the next screen I selected a player with attack and defense statistics lower than mine and clicked FIGHT.
So far I have successfully executed 5 attacks and my total reward was 1.50 SCRAP.
Terracore's other feature is exploration.
To help discover and unlock the new planet Oceania it is necessary to donate SCRAP tokens.
Donating SCRAP tokens in the EXPLORE section allows you to increase the FAVOR statistic, and with 1000 FAVOR you will be able to visit the planet and collect in-game rewards.
Terracore tokenomics is based on SCRAP tokens that can be earned from game activity in two ways:
- mining activity
- attacking other players.
The SCRAP token is a second-level token of the Hive blockchain and can be transferred, bought and sold by one of Hive's second-level token dexes such as:
Today, March 24, 2023 1 token SCRAP has a value of:
- 0.25548537 SWAP.HIVE = $0.0993638 (Lowest Ask)
- 0.22258000 SWAP.HIVE = $0.0865696 (Highest Bid)
Based on the current value of SCRAP tokens, I calculated hourly earnings and daily earnings obtainable from mining activity expressed in HIVE and dollars.
Note 1: To get the earnings I calculated in the above diagram you need to have at least the STASH SIZE = 2 otherwise the earnings will be lower because you can have a maximum of 3 Claims available and the Claim counter recharges by +1 every 4 hours.
Note 2: In my calculations I did not consider the effect of attacks that will increase gains if inflicted on other players and decrease gains if suffered.
If you do not suffer attacks and only considering the gain from mining (engineering = 1) you can recover the cost of registration in 10.40 days (break-even point).
Obviously, the time required to reach the break-even point will be shorter if the value of SCRAP tokens increases in the future and will be longer in the opposite case.
My first impression and and evaluation of Terracore is very positive both from the play and financial side.
The game is simple to understand and easy to play, the graphics are beautiful, and the ability to attack other players and also to suffer attacks makes the game fun and also an incentive to use SCRAP tokens to increase game stats.
The only aspect that I think could cause problems in the future to the sustainability of the game is the ability to create multiple accounts which is a permitted option.
Except for this aspect which I see as potentially problematic, Terracore I like very much and I am glad I added it to my list of Hive-games I play.

Per iniziare a giocare su Terracore:

1. Devi avere un account Hive. Se non hai un account Hive puoi crearne uno seguendo alcuni semplici passi. Ho scritto due guide passo passo in cui ho mostrato come creare un account Hive tramite:

2. Devi Installare l'estensione Hive Keychain per il tuo browser
- 3. Devi pagare un costo di iscrizione (Citizenship) di: 20 HIVE
Se decidi di registrarti e usi il mio refferal link ti invierò sul tuo wallet il 50% del mio guadagno: 1 HIVE/2 = 0.5 HIVE.
La procedura di registrazione è molto semplice. PASSO 1: Dalla home page devi: - 1: inserire il tuo Hive account name - 2: poi devi cliccare su Connect e cliccare su Confirm nella finestra di Hive Keychain
PASSO 2: Si aprira una scermata in cui devi: - 1: cliccare su PURCHASE - 2: autorizzare e confermarre il trasferimento di 20 HIVE cliccando su Confirm nella finestra di Hive Keychain
Nella schermata successiva riceverai un Helpful Tip che consiste nell'invito a cliccare su CLAIM (in basso al centro della schermata).
PASSO 3: Devi cliccare su CLAIM per guadagnare il tuo primo token SCRAP che sarà trasferito in automatico sul tuo wallet su Hive Engine.
Puoi controllare il quantitativo di token SCRAP che hai nel tuo wallet su Hive Engine dall'indicatore in alto nella schermata principale di Terracore.
Ho creato una tabella in cui ho inserito:
- le immagini delle stats principali presenti nella home page di Terracore
- le informazioni relative ad ogni stat che ho preso dal wiki di Terracore.

Nel mio primo giorno di gioco su Terracore ho accumulato 4 SCRAP che ho utilizzato per incrementare 4 statistiche: Engineering, Damage, Defense e Stash Size.
Il Mine Rate iniziale è di 0.0001 SCRAP al secondo e questo vuol dire che ogni ora è possibile accumulare 0.36 SCRAP.
Con lo Stash Size iniziale (1) è possibile accumulare al massimo 1 SCRAP senza fare il Claim. Se non si fa il claim per tempo si perde tutta la produzione del mining eccedente il quantitativo di 1 SCRAP.
Per questo motivo ho scelto come primo upgrade lo Stash Size. Il costo è stato di 1 SCRAP grazie al quale ho aumentato il quantitativo massimo di SCRAP che posso accumulare nel mio STASH che è passato da 1 a 2 unità.
Nota importante: Gli SCRAP contenuti nello STASH non sono al sicuro perchè potrebbero diventare il bottino di un attacco di un altro giocatore e vengono trasferiti nel wallet solo quando si fa il Claim.
Per questo motivo oltre ad aumentare la capienza del mio STASH ho anche aumentato la mia statistica di difesa: DEFENSE: 10->20
Come terzo upgrade ho scelto di aumentare il mio MINE RATE tramite l'upgrade della statistica Enginering e il mio Mine Rate è aumentato del +10%.
Fare l'upgrade delle statistiche di gioco è semplice perchè è sufficiente cliccare sul simbolo + di fianco ad ogni stats.
Il costo iniziale dell'upgrade di ogni stat è 1 ma poi il costo aumenta in modo esponenziale per ogni successivo upgrade. Per mostrarti questo meccanismo ho fatto un ulteriore upgrade della stat Enginering. Come puoi vedere nell'immagine seguente il mio prossimo upgrade mi costerà 9 SCRAP
Ho anche provato la funzionalità BATTLE di Terracore. Infatti è possibile attaccare gli altri giocatori per sottrarre una parte degli SCRAP che hanno accumulato nel loro STASH.
Per attaccare un altro giocatore ho cliccato su BATTLE (in basso a destra nella schermata principale)
Nella schermata successiva ho selezionato un giocatore con le statistiche di attacco e difesa inferiori alle mie e ho cliccato su FIGHT.
Fino ad ora ho eseguito con successo 5 attacchi e la mia ricompensa totale è stata di 1.50 SCRAP.
L'altra funzionalità di Terracore è l'esplorazione
Per contribuire alla scoperta e allo sblocco del nuovo pianeta Oceania è necessario donare dei token SCRAP.
Donare i token SCRAP nella sezione EXPLORE permette di aumentare la statistica FAVOR e con 1000 FAVOR sarà possibile visitare il pianeta e raccogliere le ricompense di gioco.
La tokenomics di Terracore è basata sui token SCRAP che possono essere guadagnati dall'attività di gioco in due modi:
- attività di mining
- attaccando gli altri giocatori
Il token SCRAP è un token di secondo livello della blockchain di Hive e può essere trasferito, acquistato e venduto da uno dei Dex dei token di secondo livello di Hive come ad esempio:
Oggi 24 marzo 2023 1 token SCRAP ha un valore di:
- 0.25548537 SWAP.HIVE = $0.0993638 (Lowest Ask)

In base al valore attuale dei token SCRAP ho calcolato il guadagno orario e il guadagno giornaliero ottenibile dall'attività di mining espresso in HIVE e in dollari.
Nota 1: Per ottenere i guadagni che ho calcolato nello schema precedente è necessario avere almeno uno STASH SIZE = 2 altrimenti i guadagni saranno inferiori perchè è possibile avere un massimo di 3 Claim disponibili e il contatore del Claim si ricarica di +1 ogni 4 ore.
Nota 2: Nei miei calcoli non ho considerato l'effetto degli attacchi che faranno aumentare i guadagni se inflitti ad altri giocatori e che faranno diminuire i guadagni se subiti.
Se non si subiscono attacchi e solo considerando il guadagno del mining (engineering = 1) è possibile recuperare il costo di iscrizione in 10.40 giorni (break-even point).
Ovviamente il tempo necessario per raggiungere il punto di pareggio sarà minore se il valore dei token SCRAP aumenterà in futuro e sarà maggiore nel caso contrario.
La mia prima impressione e e la mia prima valutazione di Terracore è molto positiva sia dal punto di vista ludico che dal punto di vista del lato finanziario.
Il gioco è semplice da capire e facile da giocare, le grafiche sono belle e la possibilità di attaccare gli altri giocatori e anche di subire gli attacchi rende il gioco divertente ed anche un incentivo ad utilizzare i token SCRAP per aumentare le statistiche di gioco.
L'unico aspetto che secondo me potrebbe causare problemi in futuro alla sostenibilità del gioco è la possibilità di creare account multipli che è un opzione consentita.
Tranne questo aspetto che considero potenzialmente problematico, Terracore mi piace molto e sono contento di averlo aggiunto alla mia lista degli Hive-games a cui gioco.
