The estimated value of the untamed packs of cards is the reason for my purchase of 100 packs of cards
On May 31, 2021, just after the Splinterlands season ended, I bought 110 packs of Untamed cards from the Shop on the Splinterlands website and used 200000 DEC tokens for the purchase. In this post I will explain the reason for my purchase, which is closely related to the estimated value of a pack of Untamed cards.
In fact, a pack of Untamed cards has an estimated value which is not a certain value but a value that becomes more and more accurate as the number of packs purchased increases (starting from 500 packs of cards and going up in number).
To find out the estimated value of a pack of Untamed cards you can consult: :
- the https://peakmonsters.com/packs site (packs section)
- the website https://www.splintercards.com/tool-packvalue.html (tools section)
The highest estimated value is obtained by using 5 Alchemical potions and 5 Legendary potions per pack of Untamed cards.
On 31 May, the estimated value of a pack of Untamed cards was $2.32 (using market prices and using both potions).
I compared the estimated value with the price of the Untamed card packs considering the different purchase options:
- purchase via the Splinterlands website (using DEC credits and tokens)
- Purchase via HiveEngine/LeoDex/TribalDex
Based on HIVE and DEC token values as of May 31, 2021, the lowest cost of a pack of Untamed cards was found to be the cost of purchasing 500 packs of cards in bulk from the Splinterlands Shop: $1.58 per pack
To get this price you needed to have 1 million DEC tokens to invest and I only had 200000 DEC tokens. So I checked the cost of buying 100 packs of Untamed cards in bulk from the Splinterlands website and found the second best price: $1.65 per pack.
I calculated the difference between Estimated Value and Purchase Cost and got a very positive result: +0.66755$. As you can see from the following image, each pack of Untamed cards has an estimated value that is higher than the purchase cost (in case you don't have to buy potions).
In case you don't have potions available the difference is still positive but not enough to justify a purchase according to my strategy of buying Untamed or Dice packs.
In fact the card pack buying strategy I decided to follow is the following: I buy a pack of cards only if the difference between the estimated value and the purchase cost is more than 0.4$.
This explains the reason for my purchase: 100 packs of Untamed cards (+10 bonus).
After the purchase I opened 47 packs of Untamed cards.
Based on the estimated value of $2.32 per pack of cards there are three possible scenarios:
- Lucky scenario: The total value of the cards inside the packs is higher than the $109.4 value corresponding to the following multiplication: ($2.32 * 47 packs).
- Estimated scenario (highly unlikely): the total value of the cards coincides with the total estimated value which is $109.4.
- Unfortunate scenario: the total value of the cards inside the packs is less than the value of $109.4.
Based on the purchase cost, I make a profit if the cards in the card packs have a total value of more than $77.66515 ($1.65245 * 47).
Inside the card packs I found 235 cards. The highest value card I found was the Scarred Llama Mage summoner card: value of about $28.
The 47 packs of cards I opened cost me $77.66515 and the total value of the cards I found inside the packs was $80.5. I wasn't very lucky and in fact I fell into the unlucky scenario but I still had a profit even if it was small: +2.83$.
47 packs of cards are few to hope to get a real value of the cards found close to the estimated value and therefore luck always plays a key role. I have not been lucky in opening packs, but I think my buying strategy is correct in the medium to long term and I will continue to follow it.
I only opened 47 packs of cards because I used up all the potions I got from the rewards of the daily quests and the seasonal quests.
Now I have 63 Untamed packs to open but I'm not in a hurry and I won't be buying potions from the Shop section of the Splinterlands website. I will open a new pack of cards every time I collect 5 alchemical potions and 5 legendary potions from completing the Splinterlands daily quests.
In July there will be the airdrop of the new SPS tokens that Splinterlands will award to its players on a daily basis for over a year based on the points shown in the table in the image below.
In order to get more points for future airdrops I will sell all the cards I don't use in battle because the conversion value of most Splinterlands cards into DEC (Collection Power) is less than the amount of DEC you can get from selling the cards.
Selling cards that are useful in battle is counterproductive because the SPS tokens will be awarded not only in the airdrop, which will last about a year, but also as prizes in tournaments and battles.

Any game that allows you to buy cards and tokens is never just a game, it is also an investment. I am not a financial advisor and my advice is not financial advice, it is just my personal opinion based on my experience.

Il valore stimato dei pacchi di carte untamed è il motivo del mio acquisto di 100 pacchi di carte
Il 31 maggio 2021, appena conclusa la stagione di Splinterlands, ho comprato 110 pacchi di carte Untamed dallo Shop del sito di Splinterlands e ho utilizzato per l'acquisto 200000 token DEC. In questo post spiegherò il motivo del mio acquisto che è strettamente collegato al valore stimato di un pacco di carte Untamed.
Infatti un pacco di carte Untamed ha un valore stimato che non è un valore certo ma è un valore che diventa sempre più accurato con l'aumentare del numero dei pacchi acquistati (a partire da 500 pacchi di carte a salire di numero).

Il valore stimato più alto si ottiene utilizzando 5 pozioni Alchemiche e 5 pozioni Leggendarie per ogni pacco di carte Untamed.
Il 31 maggio il valore stimato di un pacco di carte Untamed era di 2.32$ (usando i prezzi di mercato e utilizzando entrambe le pozioni).
Ho confrontato il valore stimato con il prezzo dei pacchi di carte Untamed considerando le diverse opzioni di acquisto:
- acquisto tramite il sito di Splinterlands (utilizzando i crediti e i token DEC)
- acquisto tramite HiveEngine/LeoDex/TribalDex
In base ai valori di HIVE e dei token DEC del 31 maggio 2021 il costo più basso di un pacco di carte Untamed è risultato essere quello ottenibile tramite l'acquisto di 500 pacchi di carte in blocco dallo Shop di Splinterlands: 1.58$
Per avere questo prezzo era necessario avere 1 milione di token DEC da investire e io avevo solo 200000 token DEC. Così ho controllato il costo di acquisto di 100 pacchi di carte Untamed in blocco dal sito di Splinterlands e ho trovato il secondo prezzo più coveniente: 1.65$ per ogni pacco.
Ho calcolato la differenza tra Valore Stimato e Costo di acquisto e ho avuto un risultato molto positivo: +0.66755$. Come puoi vedere dall'immagine seguente ogni pacco di carte Untamed ha un valore stimato superiore al costo di acquisto (nel caso non si devono acquistare le pozioni).
Nel caso non si hanno pozioni disponibili la differenza è comunque positiva ma non tanto da giustificare un acquisto secondo la mia strategia di acquisto dei pacchi di carte Untamed o Dice.
Infatti la strategia di acquisto dei pacchi di carte che ho deciso di seguire è la seguente: acquisto un pacco di carte solo se la differenza tra il valore stimato e il costo d'acquisto è superiore a 0.4$
Ecco spiegato il motivo del mio acquisto: 100 pacchi di carte Untamed (+10 di bonus).
Dopo l'acquisto ho aperto 47 pacchi di carte Untamed.
In base al valore stimato di 2.32$ per pacco di carte gli scenari possibili sono tre:
- scenario fortunato: il valore totale delle carte all'interno dei pacchi è superiore al valore di 109.4$ corrispondente alla seguente moltiplicazione: (2.32$ * 47 pacchi).
- scenario stimato (altamente improbabile): il valore totale delle carte coincide con il valore totale stimato che è di 109.4$.
- scenario sfortunato: il valore totale delle carte all'interno dei pacchi è inferiore al valore di 109.4$.
In base al costo di acquisto ho un profitto se le carte contenute all'interno dei pacchi di carte hanno un valore totale superiore a 77.66515$ (1.65245$ * 47)
All'interno dei pacchi di carte ho trovato 235 carte. La carta di valore più alto che ho trovato è stata la carta evocatore Scarred Llama Mage: valore di circa 28$.
I 47 pacchi di carte che ho aperto mi sono costati 77,66515$ e il valore totale delle carte che ho trovato all'interno dei pacchi è stato di 80.5$. Non sono stato molto fortunato e infatti sono ricaduto nello scenario sfortunato ma ho avuto comunque un profitto anche se piccolo: +2.83$.
47 pacchi di carte sono pochi per sperare di ottenere un valore reale delle carte trovate prossimo al valore stimato e quindi la fortuna gioca sempre un ruolo fondamentale. Nell'apertura dei pacchi non sono stato fortunato ma ritengo comunque la mia strategia di acquisto corretta nel medio-lungo periodo e quindi continuerò a seguirla.
Ho aperto solo 47 pacchi di carte perchè ho utilizzato tutte le pozioni che avevo ottenuto dalle ricompense delle missioni giornaliere e dalle ricompense delle missioni stagionali.
Adesso ho 63 pacchi Untamed ancora da aprire ma non ho fretta e non comprerò le pozioni dalla sezione Shop del sito di Splinterlands. Aprirò un nuovo pacco di carte ogni volta che avrò collezionato 5 pozioni alchemiche e 5 pozioni leggendarie grazie al completamento delle missioni giornaliere di Splinterlands.
A luglio ci sarà l'airdrop dei nuovi token SPS che Splinterlands assegnerà su base giornaliera per più di un anno in base ai punti indicati nella tabella dell'immagine seguente.
Per avere più punti per il futuro airdrop venderò tutte le carte che non uso in battaglia perchè il valore di conversione in DEC (Collection Power) della maggior parte delle carte di Splinterlands è inferiore al quantitativo di DEC ottenibili dalla vendita delle carte.
Vendere carte utili in battaglia è invece controproducente perchè i token SPS saranno assegnati non solo nell'airdrop, che avrà una durata di circa un anno, ma anche come premio nei tornei e nelle battaglie.

Ogni gioco che prevede l'acquisto di carte e di token non è mai un semplice gioco ma è anche un investimento. Io non sono un consulente finanziario e il mio non è un consiglio finanziario ma è solo la mia personale opinione frutto della mia esperienza.
